Lynn Terry - Affiliate Marketing Ambassador

Lynn Terry - Affiliate Ambassador
In this third installment of May being Lynn Terry Month, FSB looks at Lynn Terry, Affiliate Marketer. As a current work at home Super Affiliate Mom, Lynn Terry has worn many hats in the past to put dinner on the table. She’s done everything from being a Unix Sys Admin to starting up her own Computer Repair and Training operation. Lynn also established her own International Web Development company and was also an EBay Power Seller, and I’m sure there’s been more jobs worked that we don’t know about. I think it’s fair to say that Lynn Terry doesn’t mind getting her hands “dirty” when it comes to making money online.
So what makes Lynn Terry a successful Super Affiliate? Simple, she’s business savvy. If you ever listen to any of her online interviews or are a regular reader of her Blog, you’ll hear Lynn speak with a clarity of purpose and mind-set that speaks volumes of her business experience. Don’t forget, her past business models were all successful ventures and if she hadn’t been given a few lemons to work through, she probably would still be involved in some hybrid of online/offline operations. But life took a different turn and she found herself having to adapt to a situation that made sense to work from home. And so she did what Lynn does best, she researched her options, assessed her strengths and wrote out a ten year business plan which, 13 years later, has been a wonderfully successful Affiliate Marketing career accounting for about 75 percent of her yearly income…give or take a few percentage points.
“So”, you may be wondering, “why does this make Lynn Terry an Affiliate Marketing Ambassador? Aren’t there other female Super Affiliates like Rosalind Gardner who deserve this prestigious title as well?” Sure, but the reason I have deemed Lynn to be an Affiliate Marketing Ambassador is twofold:
The first reason is because Lynn actually makes a great living for herself and her family promoting physical products, not just info-products, that are not her own. As she likes to say, Lynn sells everything from Elvis Bobble heads to patio and garden furniture and everything in between…:) This is what I truly love about Affiliate Marketing, there’s no downside. You can literally market other people’s products to a group of individuals in need of whatever, and as long as you have an understanding of a given community, you can pick and choose how best to serve them through the products that you want to promote. It’s a win win!
Of course it’s not that easy. Apart from site design, copy writing, marketing, and traffic generation, there is a more important element that one unfortunately can’t outsource: the intuitive sense of what people are looking for and how best to direct them to it. I believe Lynn has this intuitiveness in spades and it is this sense that has garnered her the success we all enjoy reading about.
Now, was Lynn born with this intuitiveness? Who knows! But what I can safely surmise, is that Lynn’s past service oriented business experiences has helped her hone this intuitiveness sense to an art form which she uses to the best of her abilities. Does this mean that the average joe/jane should give up on Affiliate Marketing if they don’t share the same years of business experience? No…but it may be harder to grasp the service part of Internet/Affiliate Marketing and how best to fully leverage the promotion of a product to a needy group of potential buyers. Of course there are exceptions and, with anything, lots of trial and error.
And then of course there’s Lynn’s Motto:
“Its not about knowing how… its about DOING it.”
The second reason I deem Lynn to be an Affiliate Marketing Ambassador is because of her openness in sharing her experiences with us, both good and bad. Lynn’s willingness to teach through example, as well as experience, has allowed me to up my game a bunch and I am sure I’m not the only one. And as much as I enjoy what Rosalind has to offer, I have never “established” that personal connection that I feel Lynn has created. Having said that, let me state that this does not diminish Rosalind’s worth as a Super Affiliate in any way and she still is an Affiliate Marketing role model to seriously look up to. As Lynn did “back in the day.”
As I conclude this post, I realize there is much more to Lynn Terry’s Affiliate Marketing career that we can all learn from. Thankfully, she has provided a wealth of knowledge on her Clicknewz Blog, which benefits us to no end, but I would start from the beginning. Actually, this post is quite timely as Lynn responds to a readers question about Affiliate Marketing which, if you haven’t read it yet, may answer some of the same questions you have been pondering lately. Take care and all the best towards your success.

I’m flattered, Lyle - thank you!
Reading your post this morning gave me a huge dose of nostalgia. It’s hard to believe it’s been 12 full years now (plus!). My two kids were 5 months and 5 years (one on the hand, one on the hip) when I started my first business. They are about to turn 13 & 18… unbelievable.
I am forever grateful for the options that were available along the way, that helped me to stay home with them for all of these years. Those same options are available to everyone. Some people believe I must have been lucky, or it must have been easy. Not true. In fact, I had it harder than most… and did it anyway.
Out of everything I’ve done over the years, Affiliate Marketing is definitely the most fun and the most rewarding to me. I find it challenging and of course highly profitable. I really love being able to work different markets with different approaches.
Thank you - your post here really made my day!

Hi Lynn. If anyone deserves a huge “Thank You” it’s you. It’s been my pleasure to write a few posts about you, but it’s also been a selfish act as well. Going back through your earlier blog posts and following your online career has provided me with more than enough inspiration, motivation and “hutzpa” to continue on with my own online biz with renewed vigor. You have given “us” so much to think about and do and I look forward to many more successful and fun years with you…the cyber you of course. last thing I need is a restraining order…:) Take care Lynn and all the best.

Lyle,
Great post and you’re not alone in the fact that through Lynn’s example has also allowed me to up my game and get moving. The personal connection Lynn has with her ‘followers’ is amazing. I wish more of the big name Internet marketers would run their business like that as well but it’s their loss, Lynn’s gain. She’s amazing and is definitely an Affiliate Marketing Ambassador.
